During this years BET hip hop awards, rapper Eminem gained a lot of attention for going ahead and discussing the current president. During his freestyle he took shots at white supremacist, President Trump, and all of his supporters.
As he started he talked about disowning fans that support Trump and showing the love and support to former San Francisco 49ers quater back Colin Kaepernick. He accused Trump of racism, hypocrisy, disrespecting veterans and much more. He even gets on him for responses towards the recent violence in Charlottesville, the tragedies from hurricane Maria, and the Las Vegas shooting.
This isn’t the first time Slim Shady has targeted Trump however. In August during a performance at the Reading Festival in the United Kingdom Eminem told the crowd how he feels about the president. He said how he “can’t stand” the president, and then led them into a anti trump chant. And before that at a different concert he wore a shirt that said “Fack Trump” and made comments regarding the president before performing the song “White America”.
Eminem’s lyrics have always caused controversy in the past and this isn’t his first time tackling politics head on. He has also talked about people like Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and George W. Bush. Last October, he released the freestyle track “Campaign Speech,” in which he called Mr. Trump “a loose cannon who’s blunt with his hand on the button.”
And with his freestyle on the topic most people agree with him. Was he Wrong? Of course not. I agree with what he had to say fully on the matter. But the part that bothers me the most is that it took him talking about for certain people to finally acknowledge the problem that we have in the white house currently.
